Watch| Made Of Steel – a Documentary on Wheelchair Basketball

Made Of Steel is a 28-minute documentary following the South West Scorpions, a wheelchair basketball team, at the National Junior Championships. This is an annual tournament where the best teams from across the UK compete against each other for the grand title.

These athletes are strong, determined and understand a challenge better than anyone, as it's something they face everyday with a disability. Throughout the documentary, interviews with the coach and athletes give an insight into their lives, the game and their future ambitions.

This documentary aims to challenge views about disability by showing that your mental ability is just, if not more important, as your physical strength. Producer Jack Maddox says:

The documentary was inspired by my own disability. I feel television can have a huge influence on public opinions. From my experience the subject of disability always tends to be a approached in a negative light. Focusing on the weaknesses, the disabilities. Our documentary gets to know the athletes personally and focuses on their strengths showing what they excel at.
