In London and looking for something fun to do this weekend?
Celebrating black and multicultural films, Block Party Cinema brings movies, music and street food together to create a unique, throwback vibe in London pop ups.
Their very first event will take place Sunday 3rd April at Pop Brixton, a pioneering new pop up space in the heart of Brixton. First, you'll be transported back to 90’s Chicago for Love Jones, a romantic comedy full of passion and poetry starring Nia Long and Larenz Tate.
The second screening of the day features the film we all wanted to be in – House Party. Full of new jack swing, ‘yo mama’ raps and awesome dance-offs, this fun loving classic will have you bouncing in your beanbag!
After each screening, you can let loose with and old school block party, where DJ’s will be spinning the best RnB, Hip-Hop and Neo Soul. Food will also be at the ready courtesy of Mama's Jerk.
Co-Founder Reece Brown said: "As cinema loving Londoners, we'd grown disenchanted with the lack of access to black and multicultural films either through mainstream or pop up cinemas. Our ambition with Block Party Cinema is to help rejuvenate, and make these films even more accessible, whilst adding our own special ingredients to the mix. Community spirit has always been the soul of the best block party's and that's the feeling we've harnessed to create this unique cinema experience."
