Created by Tony Saint, The Interceptor follows a state of the art law enforcement team, known as UNIT, whose unswerving mission is to hunt down some of Britain’s most dangerous and ruthless criminals. The series is produced by BBC Drama Production in association with BBC Worldwide and stars O.T. Fagbenle (Looking), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Jo Joyner (EastEnders), Robert Lonsdale (From Here To Eternity), Ewan Stewart (Titanic), Lorraine Ashbourne (Playing The Field), Anna Skellern (Heading Out), Gary Beadle (EastEnders) and Lee Boardman (Da Vinci’s Demons).
The eight episode series, which has been described as a “high octane police drama”, has been in the works at the BBC since as far back as 2012 and is based on the memoirs of former customs officer and SOCA agent Cameron Addicott, who served in the “Alpha Projects Unit” before his retirement. That unit, which hunted the UK’s most dangerous criminals by extraordinary means, forms the basis of UNIT in the BBC series.
