From the team behing award-winning comedy, The Game and US box office hit Jumping The Broom, comes BET's first original dramatic series Being Mary Jane. Starring Gabrielle Union (Bring It On, Bad Boys II), the 8-part series follows news reporter Mary Jane as she juggles life, love and family. The series has already take America by storm with The Atlantic describing it as "a show with a diversity of characters that highlihgt multiple dimensions of women's lives".
Mary Jane Paul appears to have it all; a successful career as a Tv news anchor, a beautiful home and enough money to be entirely self-sufficient. However, there's no such thing as a one-woman show, as MJ discovers when she starts her hunt for 'Mr Right'. She may report on everyone else's lives each night on the evening news but what will be revealed when the curtain is pulled back to see what it's really like Being Mary Jane.
SceneTV attended a private screening of the first two episodes and this is definitley one to watch. This is a great example of a show and character that is sure to resonate with women (and men too!) across all kinds of borders.
Co-starring Omari Hardwick, Stephen Bishop, Lisa Vidal and Aaron Spears, Being Mary Jane kicks off tonight (Monday 3rd February) at 10pm on BET Sky 187, Virgin 184 and Freesat 140. See the trailer below:
