Big Couch is hosting The Secret Sauce of Indie Film Production, the first in a series of workshops dedicated to connecting people in the film industry and strengthening the knowledge and skills of producers in the UK. This is a hands-on, 6 hour mentoring workshop dedicated to producers, line producers, production managers and 1st assistant directors at Century Club, in London’s West End.
The session, led by Golden Globe winning producer Gareth Wiley (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Match Point, Cassandra’s Dream) and Venice Biennale College winning producer and mentor Samm Haillay (Bypass, Light Years) will uncover the lesser-known strategies for successfully producing an independent feature film.

The workshop includes preparation work, on a topic shared with the finalists, an open talk mentoring session, and homework shared and discussed on the Big Couch forum.
SAMM HAILLAY, winner of the Venice Biennale College, will share his advice on how to unlock public funding and will point out the obstacles in distributing independent feature films. He will use as case study his productions Bypass and Light Years. In 2001, he and art-director Duane Hopkins founded the production company ‘Third’ which won a BFI Vision Award in 2013.
GARETH WILEY, Best Picture Golden Globe Winning producer of ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’, will expand your knowledge on how to structure your film’s finance. He will cover topics such as types of finance, route to market and pre-sales. Gareth will use the Screen Advantage platform as a presentation framework.
