Event: Channel 4’s Diversity Week 5th – 9th March

Channel 4's Diversity Week will take place next month with a series of events, talks and mini workshops to celebrate diversity and Channel 4's inclusive for all environment.

Monday 5th March 2012

How do I have a career in telly?

How do I have a career in telly is a panel discussion focusing on the importance of career planning – for the short, mid and long term. The panel reveal their strategies for success, and how to negotiate the many hurdles for those looking for a long term career in TV.

 

Tuesday 6th March 2012

All Inclusive 4 Event

The All Inclusive 4 Network is an internal advisory group made up of Channel 4 employees across departments, a wide and inclusive body, of unlimited numbers, with at its heart a core number of 10 to 12 people. During Diversity Week, the All Inclusive 4 Network will host an evening event at Channel 4 HQ for individuals who bring a fresh, diverse and unique voice that are considering an entry level break in the off-screen side of the media industry. The event wil focus on Channel 4’s Internship and Apprenticeship Programmes and how you can stand out during the application process.

 

Wednesday 7th March 2012

In Conversation with… Colleen Woodcock (co producer) and screening of Flim 4's The Iron Lady

After the screening, film Co Producer Colleen Woodcock will talk about the movie and answer any questions you may have. You will then be given a chance to mingle and network over a few drinks. The audience will be pronominally women to celebrate the eve of International Women’s Day which falls within diversity week at Channel 4.

 

Thursday 8th March 2012

Building Disability Confidence

Are you an enlightened person that recognises the business benefits of employing and engaging with disabled individuals? This workshop, run by My Plus Consulting.will Focus on building disability confidence and recruitment skills. The main objectives of the workshop are:
 
1. Build confidence to engage with and support disabled individuals

 
2. To feel skilled, energised and confident in recruiting talent

 

Friday 9th March 2012

Screening of Beautiful Thing in partnership with Out In The City, hosted by Dave Lynn

Beautiful Thing is a film adaptation of the play of the same name and was released in 1996 by Film 4.
In a suburb of London, young Jamie is escaping sport hours, to avoid being the victim of his comrades. Young Ste, his neighbor, is beaten by his father, and comes to sleep overnight. They discover new feelings, sleeping in the same bed…

This special evening will be hosted by Dave Lynn who will talk about what it was like to be part of this amazing film and its impact when realised.
