This week, SceneTV attended the London premiere of the fourth series of MTV's Shuga.
Shuga is an award-winning TV series from MTV's Staying Alvie Foundation that fuses sexual-health messaging with gripping storylines, exploring the issues of sexual relationships between young people in Africa in particular. Series 1 and 2 were launched in Kenya in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
The third series was set in Nigeria and first aired on Dec 1, 2013 (World AIDS Day) and has aired on 87 broadcasters worldwide, with a potential global reach of over 500 million viewers. It’s been viewed in countries such as: Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, US, Australia, Canada, South Africa, UK, Zimbabwe, Iceland, Zambia and Qatar.
After the jaw-dropping cliff hanger that was ShugaNaija, MTVShuga 4 returns with some old familiar faces and a few new ones. What has become of Sophie? How is Princess adjusting to the reality of being HIV+? Did Nii survive the car accident?
