British Film Institute diversity manager Deborah Williams has been appointed as executive director of Creative Diversity Network. Williams replaces CDN diversity chief Amanda Ariss, who left earlier this month after 18 months in the role.
She will take responsibility for the Diamond monitoring scheme, which is due to issue its first report next year, as well as CDN’s forthcoming talent database and online diversity resource.
Williams joins the network in November after just over 12 months at the BFI where she helped develop its diversity agenda and contribute towards its ‘three tick’ funding initiative. A former Arts Council England executive, she has also previously worked as a consultant across the arts, public and private sectors. CDN chair John McVay said she would help take the organisation to the next level.
“Deborah combines a wealth of experience dealing with diversity and inclusion with extensive knowledge of the creative industries through her work at the BFI so she’s a perfect fit for the role,” he added.
